Portugal has a rich seafaring past, superb beach resorts, wistful towns and a landscape wreathed in olive groves, vineyards and wheat fields. Littered with UNESCO World Heritage sites and graced by one of Europe's most relaxed and attractive capitals, it also remains refreshingly affordable.

Walking along the idyllic streets, one can get carried away at the way Portuguese savours every moment of life; the traditional folk festivals; simple, honest food drowning in olive oil; music that pulls at the heart strings, recalling past love and glories; and markets overflowing with fish, fruit and flowers.
Lisbon, the capital and largest town in Portugal, is perhaps Europe’s most pleasant and romantic city. Its fantastic architecture, diverse population, delicious seafood, intriguing tile-work and non-stop night-life bring together the best elements of Portuguese life.
The Portuguese food is delicious. Soups makes the first course of any Portuguese meal. Among the famous soup served in any restaurants is the Minho, caldo verde(soup), made from spiced sausage, potatoes and cabbage.
Festivals in Portugal have been in existence for many centuries. The Portuguese people hold a deep respect for their festivals which have its origins in ancient tradition and religion. Today, some of its newer festivals (featuring art and movies) are showcased throughout the country, illustrating modern culture. Portuguese "Festas" include religious festivals, pilgrimages, traditional dances, gastronomy, processions, firework displays, music, literature and dance.
Summer might be the most popular time to visit the town of Portugal, but for the traveler who can chart his or her own course, spring and autumn are the most delectable seasons.
On the other hand, snow brings many skiing enthusiasts to the Serra de EstrĂȘla in north central Portugal. But for most parts of Portugal, winter means only some rain and lower temperatures in other regions.
So, discover Portugal and be mesmerized by its classic beauty and extravagance, get swept away by its idyllic and relaxing tempo.
